back when i was in 6th grade.. i made the mistake of letting my mother cut my hair. she kept trying to get it strait, and she kept cutting it at an angle. so she cut it shorter, and shorter (still trying to get it strait) and when she finaly got it strait, my hair was up to my ears, all the way around.
it was hidious. but she just kept saying "its so cute". she wants me to get a hairstyle that was "in" during her time (the 70's and 80's). from that day on, i never let her cut my hair again. i told her i woudn't let her experement on my hair anymore. and she seriously lauged at me when she cut my hair. (so mean!). in 8th grade, i warned my sister not to let my mom cut her hair, but she did any ways, and IT WAS SCREWED UP. she tryed to make "layers" and it didn't work out so well... from this day on, my sister has to wear her hair in a bun, to cover up the horible cut my mother gave her.

NO! My sister and I have naturally curly hair and we actually don't brush it. We use a pick and put leave it conditioner and a mouse or liquid style settler. But brushing curly hair will only make it frizzy and huge. But girl for the love of god, please don't let this women near your hair again. Even $80 is good if you are happy with the results as us women are very attached and particular with our hair. I know, i had a women hack off a whole bunch of my hair and it brought me to tears. ummm, you might be better off at a salon. If your hair is really long, and you want to cut it short, you can donate your hair and some salons will cut it for free. I donated my hair, and i got it cut at Great Clips salon for free. They even took care of mailing the hair. That way you won't have to worry about the cost of a professional hair cut.

I wouldn't let her cut my hair if i were you. however, my mom has always cut my hair since forever and she has screwed up a few times but I usually get the look I go for or close enough. She's pretty good at hair cutting actually. Anyway, maybe you should get your hair cut from a beauty school where they charge way cheaper if not freeand they are pretty good even for students.

well lets put this into perspective hair grows back and curly hair does wonders for covering a bad cut, but you sound young and self conscience (totally normal) so i say take your mom to the salon so she can see that its inexpensive, most chains are cheap and some run specials call around so you get the best deal.

The $60-$80 haircuts are done by total professionals that have been cutting hair for like 10 years or so. You can get a haircut at $10-$30 from professionals.
